Morning all,
When terminating armoured into a Cu on the outside of the casing I.e sides, top, bottom, we use a gland this is straight forward but what if the cable comes into the back of the Cu how do you terminate safely and sturdy it in that case? Surely thru a grommet with relevant fire proofing isn’t enough incase cable/s are yanked on or pulled from the other side if coming in from an outside wall for example.
thanks in advance for any help and tips...

Get a steel adaptable conduit box. Remove lid and bolt the box to the rear of the consumer unit using the lid fixing points. Gland cable to box and bring in cable to the rear of the consumer unit.

or..... sink a knocout box into wall behind CU use rear knockouts to gland cable with a pirhana nut. tails into CU, nor forgetting fly lead for earthing.

At the first fix stage you terminate it into a metal box which is flush in the wall.

If its going into an existing stud wall you can fit the gland to an inspection elbow and bush that onto the back of the CU.

Or >>> Fix a 1 or 2 way metal Switch fuse unit along side the existing consumer unit specifically for the SWA cable.
