Hi guys I am installing a temp builders supply outside, the electric board have told me what they require meter box , duct , hockey stick etc but they also require a test certificate.all I will be installing is a small 4 way board c/w RCD main switch and 2 No twin socket outlets on a 32 a ring wired within a 2nd box adjacent the box with the meter will be in.what sort of certificate do I need to do for them

Thanks

Fil

Problem is I will not be able to do any live tests as there is no connection plus I don't even know what earthing type they will install ,I'm going to install a earth rod and RCD anyway as because it is only a temp supply they may moly supply me with a live and neutral ( this is what I've been told) I thought I may be able to just give them a made up tet sheet with details of what it covers , test results of ring , end to end and r1+r2 and insulation results of ring and main tails

They wont permit pme for a temporary installation,it likely wont be Tns,so fitting the rod is wise
With the test results, you can only do as you say, dead tests with perhaps a comment that the live tests to be carried out when practical, but its generally an Eic that they seek

Presumably you're thinking of providing a cert for the DNO, prior to connection, so all you can do are the dead tests on the EIC, and state on the EIC undewr limitations why you can only do dead tests.

The last installation I did without any supply installed, the DNO required a full EIC to be completed. I interpreted this as requiring a 'homemade' earthing point. The DNO accepted my EIC and duly turned up to install a 20kA PME supply.....

Whoops ... Substitute 23kVA in there, somewhere.

Apologies for the question I'm about to ask but how exactly did you do a full EIC without a supply connected?

No apologies required since this is a reasonably straight forward question.

The dead tests for the final circuits are pretty straight forward.
The Ra or Zs'e' is a priority 'dead' test using an earth electrode ground measurements. When you think that the majority of the Ra path is the electrode contact resistance plus the resistivity of the surrounding ground. Then you only have to contend with the supplier's earthing arrangements.

As long as you can guarantee a result of less than 80 Ohms, even if the supplier provides no earthing arrangement you will have something to play with.

It is highly unlikely that the supplier will give you no earthing possibilities unless it is rural, although I have installed an installation without a supply in a rural environment and was regarded by the DNO as perfectly acceptable.

Hi
most of my installation work is dead (awaiting edf connection).

basically installation has to comply with 17th.+ to edf/elec board requirements.

EIC full 4 page report.
fill out all you can. Do all dead tests r1+r2 continuity, insulation resistance, ring cont, etc. In remarks fill out no power yet.
supply characteristics and earthing arangements. You can fill out by enquiry.
Ie if TNS 16ka, 0.80 ohms,50Hz,230v and indicate "by enquiry".
never had any connection refused yet.

As per above from Dave. Swap to a 63A outlet and problem goes away. What gets plugged into it is not part of an inspection.
