Hi all. I was wondering what you guys do when it comes to calibrating your testers. Do you send them away or do you use a calibration box or another method entirely?

I always use on site calibration services OSCS and I keep a back up test set. Also useful if your gear gets nicked.
because some outfits will have several MFTs on the go........not to mention seperates (low resistance ohmmeters, high ohmmeters, loop testers, RCD testers)..then theres your other stuff such as a multimeter...certain clamps etc....so if you have quite a bit of stuff....all of a sudden a checkbox looks viable....The scam bloke said to me you can send your tester for calibration every 3 years but you need a checkbox to check readings on testers every month (yeh right!!!)
So now your checkbox needs calibrating every year (what's the point to it all)
i assume he brings the call rig to site?...if so how is the instrument expected to `normalise`?.....callibration houses are climate controlled environments and test equipment is left to `settle` for 24 hours before its put on the rig....me too. he comes to you, so there's no down time and no carriage costs.
