the time has come to replace my trusty fluke, I would love a megger but a bit out of my price range at the mo, I would have another fluke but was wondering whats good on the market? I have around £550 to play with, Suggestions.

if you like megger, try on flea bay. several firms do refurb test gear and you should be able to get a megger 1552 within your budget

i was looking at the metrel mutli testers, they look ok on paper but how are they in the field?

Megger all the way M8 and as mentioned Test-Meters Forum sponsers 5% discount also ask them about the NEW Meggers that are being rolled out ( might get more off Current range 1552 1553 ect ) test for less were doing a good deal with voltage indicators and proving unit

got a metrel pat test which the keypad broke
they wanted about £175 (min charge) plus p&p (can't remember the
amount extactly) to look at it, could cost more depends whats wrong .
only one service place in uk.
i just bought a new pat test wouldn't buy another metrel tester.
they are good meters and easy to use but if something go's wrong..
i got a easytest
also got a dia log 17th ed tester wouldn't buy another dia log tester.(made by seawards)

was looking at this one, ALPHATEK METREL 61557 INSTALTEST 14 in 1 TESTER on eBay (end time 12-Feb-11 22:39:53 GMT), any thoughts?, Also i am doing my pat day tomorrow so will need pat equipment at some point, does anyone know if the metrel mft's have 4mm leads? was just asking as i would of bought a kewtech pat adaptor instead of paying out loads more on a seperate pat machine, Thanks

used them at college rob and tbh for the price they are not bad. easy to use and straight forward. the pat adapter will fit the leads
