150 quid mate can`t go wrong cheap enough to get you going and should hold the price when you move onto your next meter

Metrel! I would not buy it again leads are crap goes in and out of calibration and the tip commander is totally unreliable watch out if you are thinking of a long lead reel the clips fall out of mine I wish I had stuck with Kewtech

rob, get a megger mate, mark my words and u heard it here from me.....................'You will regret not paying that little bit extra in the long run'!!
You get what u pay for and as a tester is ur bread and butter, dont settle for a second best option!
nuff said me thinks!

If not, i look forward to reading ur post in a few months saying ' wish i had never bought a metrel!

Can not fault you on your pick of tester but could you not have got it cheaper with the Forum sponsor ?

Your link say's the one you got was ÂŁ599.00 but the one at Test-Meter seems to be ÂŁ579.00.

.

I think Test-meter are presently ÂŁ660.06 for an mft1552 - their main prices don't show the VAT and then there is postage as well.

ÂŁ625.86 inc vat and shipping forum sponsor. Still not sure why not discounted further with the new range out now.

sorry i was looking at the 1553 rather than the 1552 - mind i still get ÂŁ624.46 inc vat and shipping. Did you get your price off the basket price or calculate it :)

Basket Mate (inc discount)

LOL my maths must be slipping - what am i doing wrong

ÂŁ539 less the 5% discount = ÂŁ512.05

ÂŁ512.05 plus the vat at 20% = ÂŁ614.46

plus ÂŁ10 shipping + ÂŁ624.46

aah got it... they are giving a 5% discount on the shipping as well but then charging vat on the rest of the shipping as well as the actual item! God i'm bored LOL!

i probably could of got it loads cheaper if id have shopped around, lesson learnt, i still dont think what i paid was bad for the meter itself, iv wanted one for a long while and was willing my fluke to die so i had an excuse, i also got the pat adaptor given to me, so that kind of made up the difference.

Just got a metrel 3125 eurocombo .quite impressed cos I was a megger man for years
Only downside was a ze reading in a flat I was testing that suggested I was standing next to the sub station, but it's seems to have calmed down 390&vat good tester 4 the money

hi, im new to the forum but ive been using the metrel instaltest 61557 for close to 3 years now and tbh im not really that impressed with it. seems like it really strugles on continuity readings, you can test and get a result but retest again and get a different result altogether and thats always been the case with it, even after its been calibrated. plus it feels very flimsy, im in the market for a new tester also and after much much much looking aroung it'll be a megger 1730 for me or a 1553 if they go down when the 1730's are released....finally!!!

anyway hope this helps.
