What do you do about boiler timers, as wont they give false readings and will they not get damaged when doing an IR test? Do you have to remove them from the circuit?
 
Either:

  • Remove it.
  • Isolate it if able to. There should be a fused spur feeding the boiler and associated switchgear (though make sure that it is osolated)
  • Test with L&N together and E
  • Test at 250V
If you have GN3 look at section 2.7.7 (page 37), and also 612.3.2 of BS7671
