Discuss testing end to ends in a ring circuit in the Periodic Inspection Reporting & Certification area at ElectriciansForums.net

hopefully you have an MFT
on the MFT you will find three little holes for the leads (long things with a prong on one end and a crock or prong on the other )
Now this bits important the end that isnt a prong or crock plugs into your tester ( steady now ) the red lead plugs into the hole marked red or L the blue one goes in the one marked blue green one goes into the one marked green or has one vertical linr and three little horizontal lines under it for this test you will not need th blue one,
connect the red / l to one end of the conductor to be tested and the green one on the other end of the conductor to be tested select continuity on your MFT and press the test button your MFT will show a value the screen - this is your test result - but it will mean bugger all to you!

Remove the lives, neutrals and earths of the ring circuit from the consumer unit. Using your meter connect one croc clip to one live, the other clip to the other live, this is known as r1, (NOT R1). Then do the same with the neutrals, (rn), then the same with the earth, (r2). The results of the r1 and rn should be roughly the same, r2 should be roughly 1.67 times higher.
Hope this hepls
