hi ,
im currently working on a new build housing site and have been testing alot of the installations,
some i have 1st and 2nd fixed etc,
but others i have not,
some of them i havnt wired the property but i have done the 2nd fix and then tested it too,

i have been filling out the electrical installation certificates too and signing them, so basically signing off other people work ?

i am interested on other peoples thoughts on this.....

Do you not use the 3 signature certificate with design, install, and test

they are installed as per site drawing,
but as i said some im not 1st fixing just 2nd fix and then testing,
im signing the certs then they will be checked and signed by the Qualified Supervisor

...So the "Qualified Supervisor" is merely checking your certs? ...Does he need an suitable, approved and calibrated device for this task? :conehead:

That title is just another make believe title (like the DI title), made up by the NICEIC, that is being totally abused by companies on a day to day basis!!

Unless you are the person conducting the installation work, you should not be signing off certificates stating that you are.
Use the certificates by all means to record test results, but don't sign them, just hand them to the QS to deal with.
If you were using the 3 part EICs, then you could sign for the testing, bit obviously someone else would have to sign for design and construction.
