Just started subbing for a company and have provided me with a megga mft1552 tester where would I locate the serial number needed to complete aelectrical installation certificate report ?

Well it should be but was taking that it wasn't there otherwise why would you ask

But would it not be given a serial number when calibrated ?

You shouldn't use any tester until you've seen the calibration sheet have you seen it and if not request it.

The serial number of the tester stays the same as it is the unique manufactures device number. A calibration cert for it must contain that serial number to identify that unique device. However the cal cert also has it's own traceable reference number. Therefore when it gets a new cert after a retest the cal cert number is new but the device serial number stays the same.
