The Ghost

Hi I wonder if anyone might have any ideas on the following. Random alarm triggering in small office. Two PIR detectors and two reed relays on two doors.
The firm who put the alarm in have sent an engineer to inspect. The result being; There is nothing wrong with the system!
I have been asked to look into possible power surges that may in the opinion of the said engineer be the cause of the random setting off of the alarm.
Not my area of expertise or comfort zone however I said I would have a look. So if the tamper light is going on when the alarm sounds is that not the tamper switch in the alarm panel?

As above can be the SAB thats causing issues, check for continuity between negative (0v) and Tamper Return (TR) on the bell circuit in the panel - if no continuity then place a link in there to bypass the fault or take a look at the bell box itself to adjust tamper spring.

If its a Premier panel the keypad would give a detailed event log which should point you in the right direction.

Another cheeky service person. Highly likely issue is with the alarm not the supply, as All have posted. Question is - when you go back and tell them you've spent £175 plus vat monitoring the supply for a week (and found nothing) would they pay?

That will only count when the alarm is active o/p said tamper. O/P doesn't seem to be in any rush to give more info, so I doubt anyone else will...
