For the ones that are experienced with alarms out there I would appreciate some advice. I've done a few alarms over the years (never a texecom) but looking to gain a bit more experience on them.

I'm building a new office/workshop in my garden to save a few quid and getting rid of the unit I've had over the last few years. my plan is to install a texecom veritas 8 alarm.

I've attached a rough diagram of my thoughts. looking for ideas where the alarm can be improved i.e position of PIR's etc and would appreciate a bit of an idiots guide on how to wire/connect it all up especially as I need two keypads as two entrances and I've never had to do this before and never touched a texecom alarm before.

I've chosen the texecom alarm as I've seen it recommended many times on here.

thanks Lee.

As already mentioned I would go for the Veritas Excel panel and use EOL wiring and also use door contacts for entry exit which allows the volumetric detection to be on full guard when set

For the workshop area it may be better to use a ceiling mounted detector, have found in the past that shelves are built and detectors get blocked and people are left wondering why the alarm never went off when they had a break in

Depending on the building construction it may also be worth considering dualtech sensors rather than PIR's to reduce the possibility of false alarms

cheers UNG I had a quick look at the EOL method. Is it just a case of putting a resistor between the tamper terminals in each PIR?

I use the high security method page 13 figure 3d in the manual which has an EOL resistor and a resistor across the contact. I always use the 4K7 / 2K2 method but that is a preference I have from working on the bigger panels and allows a couple of detectors per zone, for your alarm it will probably be easier for you to use the Veritas values with 10K / 22K resistors supplied with the panel although this is limited to one detector per zone but with 8 zones you shouldn't have a problem

And nothing to do with the choice of panel, detectors, EOL resistors etc, etc, PLEASE don't do the "I'm an electrician who fits the occasional alarm" stunt and double over the cable strands before pushing them into the leaf connectors on the panel/detectors.
Aaaaargh,:mad: it does my nut in and often knackers the leaf connector

I thought I'd update my thread to let you know how it went...... Installed it today and all went well, powered it up and programmed the panel, worked a treat 1st time with no hiccups...Anti masking dual PIR for the workshop area programmed as an inhibited zone, door contact on workshop entrance programmed as E/E, PIR in office B as guard, PIR in office A programmed as inhibited and door contact on entrance to office A programmed as E/E, Two RKP's and a bell box. wired and terminated using the EOL high security method. Probably going to pick up some smokes tomorrow to add them to the system as well. Thanks to the people who replied it's much appreciated.:icon12:
