Hi all,

I thought i would express my anger on here instead of my therapist! lol ! Since january i started my biggest project so far, 5 x 2bed luxury apartment complex in north London, the job had been going well, apprentice shattered at the end of each week and all subbys and myslef putting in good hours. Then a phone call this weekend...

I had to fly over to site this sunday as there had been a break in, the bafoons had left 2 nails guns, 2 makitta core drills, grinders, you name it it was left untouched?! all they had seemed to target was the cable and worst of all the installed cable! I arrived on site to see all 5 apartments A/C cupboards where the C.U's were located, the cables had been snipped back to the wall, majority of switches sockets and general easy access cables that had been labelled ready for second fix, snipped!

Needless to say i was gutted, I put my heart and soul into that job and we were so close to finishing the install, literally finished plaster walls with first coat of paint ready for second fix and testing now we have weeks of rewiring and alterations to do! whoever did this has hit us all where it hurts.

Cheers for listening guys,
Danny.

Spose its just all that hassle for such a small amount of money's worth of copper.

What a pain to rectify.

In the outbacks of Austrailia the glass electric isolators from large electrical Pylons were often stolen during the construction by local people as glass can be knapped into some fairly decent tools in the right hands. The contractors soon learnt to leave a few 'extra' glass isolators at the bottom of the pylons to save the hassle of replacing the ones that had been installed the previous day.

Pehaps some of you guys will be leaving 50M drums of 1.5mm at site entrances soon...?

Thieving is low.

interesting point by bluetobits about items being part of the building hence owned by the building owner not yourself.
my t&c state all parts supplyed by me remain the property of me until paid in full.
do you mean that i cant go remove that new rcbo filled c/u from a non paying customers house??
of course with the police present......

installed 2" copper pipework on a job I was doing temps on kept going missing not removed nice n neat but ripped out cutting all brackets ripping down celings they ended up putting in Steel then the theving pulled every cable out including 2500mtr of 6mm 3core swa and 200mtr 25mm 4core from the temp install 8 temp panels and around 24 temp trannys after this the security contractor was changed n NO more problems seems there was a bit of a turf war and the builders got the wrong contractor for the area

Interesting, not something that would have immediately sprung to (my) mind ;)
