Hi All

Just curious to see if anyone has had the pleasure of carrying one of these out before? And if so how it went.

We've got couple coming up, both following an EICR where we've found chewed cables/ basic insulation-exposed terminals buried in the thatch
:rat::fire::flushed:

Both jobs have decent access/ head height, unlike some I've seen. Been saving these for the cooler weather.

Both jobs are for long standing Clients. I've agreed a labour rate + materials, this was the only way I would take it on.

I've gone with the option using armoured copex for containment.

Cheers Sy

id be tempted to put a few runs of metal trubking through the most populated parts, you will save on the labour costs enough to cover the trunking.

We did look at that as an option (on this first one), but due to layout of loft won't work out.

We're having series of galv 6x4 boxes dotted around, loop feeds to these and then a copex out to each light and to each switch.

Would prefer to do fully in singles but we're having to use existing t+e that we can't pull out (e.g switches) so sticking with t+e. Also can't get copex (or coupler, bush etc) fully to each light due to 'lathe and plaster' so no good for singles.

Taking all lights down, refitting with mdf patress above. Copex to above light into term box fixed to patress then drill through back and down into light. Switches to term box, fixed to top of stud then drill through back.

I'm pretty sure you need smoke detectors in the loft. I was working on a job down south and they were re thatching the house opposite. Looked amazing until they covered it in bird wire even the head Thatcher agreed looks better without.

Cheers
