Hi all,
Things have got so desperate in my search for work - work, that will last me longer than a poxy week or two anyway. That I've now been forced to take a job working for the missus at Sainsbury. I just can't bear the though of another Christmas on the dole!!!

I had a row with an agency the other day - they wanted JIB sparkies but refused to pay the JIB rates of pay. Obviously because they couldn't afford it.

I honestly believe that this recession is far far worse than the one of the 90s. And despite what Her Majesty's Government would have us believe; is going to remain the same for the forseeable future.

So thats me off to sainsbury where I don't have to worry about anything, I can work the hours that I choose (within reason), and I know that I won't be shown the door after a couple of weeks.

The funny thing is though, the particular store where I will be working, all ready has an Audi trained mechanic, a chippie, two painters, a retired builder and now me. Not to mention some lovely looking girls - that beats the hell outta looking at big hairy builders anyday ha ha ha.

Good luck with that Ken hope it works for you mate. I lost my little contracting company just before last Christmas and got so fed up "jobing" for scraps that in May I came out to Saudi Arabia on a 2 yr contract.

It's really hard to start over again in your 50's away from wife and family but needs must I suppose. Last year I did a Temp job for the Post over the Christmas there was a law graduate, 3 other graduates and a mechanical engineer, It is hard out there mate.
