Discuss The 2391 pass/fail rate.... in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

when i did my course in Jan 2010 on day one first thing we were told the pass rate was 40%. and to be honest didn't beleive it and thought the tutors were trying to scare us into studying hard. but then out of 12 on my course, 4 quit on day 2, 4 failed the practical and 4 passed!

the examiner's report is really interesting. basically says that the centers should not be entering students who are blatantly not ready and do not understand the principles underlying the process of T+E>

Way back when I took it I am sure that they said that it was a 40% pass rate.
If I am honest the tutor was not that good and I did feel sorry for the lads that took everything that he said as being correct.
One problem that I have seen is guys that do not know one end of a meter from the other thinking that the course will teach them everything.

The dreaded volt drop, can you explain a bit more about that?

Thinking of going for 2391 and trying to get as much info as I can ;)

What do you want to know, if you know the VD %'s and the formula ( and can transpose it) the question will fill in the blanks - you won't be expected to remember milliohms per meter values for conductors - though you will likeliy know those for common sizes.

At least with this particular city + guilds exam it has maintained the element of difficulty that it is renowned for

No acusation of dumbing it down can be made, unlike school and college A level exams of today

Too many candidates who are not ready for that level, taking the exam without experience of hands on testing, which makes the theory taught in the classroom applicable in the real world

The other comment I would like to make,is when someone is successful in passing that exam,it probably gives a greater sense of achievment because of its low pass rate
