All things I Pad, I Phone and Mac related I Deffo need help with the new pad I have just about Sussed I tunes but want remote access to the home comp,I am also thinking of of an Apple TV box to stream content over WI Fi..all advice welcome

If you are planning on access to home computer I use Splashtop, but they've recently updated it and I think it's now free to connect on you LAN but something likes £6 per month or whatever to access remotely.

I've not looked into alternative methods yet.

Do not buy for that purpose.

Sky Go only allows you to stream the audio, not video.

Yep, Adams spot on mate audio only from Sky Go. There is a pirate hack doing the rounds on the black sites for the Sky Go box which will allow video, but I believe the Sky Go box 'phones home' telling Sky the default settings have been altered, so not advisable.

I have parallels installed on my macbook and I have the parallels app on the ipad, I can then access anything on the mac through the ipad, that is both anything on the mac OS and Windows 7 that is installed.

A fun game to play is when the wife is on the mac, sit next to her on the ipad, fire up parallels on ipad then take control of the cursor, each time she goes to move it to a web page or something, move it back before she clicks on it. Trust me, it is funny.

I have not got apple TV yet, it is on the list to buy, once the lastest apple tv has a jailbreak available.

To access your home computer with the IPad you need to install the file browser app, works brill for me, even grants access to NAS drives etc.

Yes, I got mine from the Apple shop, was £1.99 made by Stratopherix, just search for File Browser, that is their brand name not a common utility.

eKit Camera/TV/Memory Card Connection Kit - all iPads and iPhone 4S/4

Advice please on data transfer, I am relatively new to data transfer ability on Apple products, I was under the impression that most types of files had to be uploaded via the store to then be synced with the Pad to transfer them, but I see connectors like the one in the link, and would like to know if you can import files and what types via these devices ?
