Far to many possible questions based on the building regs you will need a copy for your assessment they dont expect you to know it but they do expect you to find it in the regs book

Try and get an up tp date one if you are asked a question on the regs it could come from anywhere in the book over 200 pages.

well iv not got time to get one. my own fault.

surly they will ask Q on the electrical side eg wall chasing depths?

Some of the building regs are in the OSG however part P is electrical safety what does part F refer to and which part of the regs requires new builds to have sockets above 450mm you may find it very difficult to find them in the OSG and very easy to find in the building regs. Honest mate get a copy.

Chris

Get on the net as well mate and download a free copy of Approved document P - its got a huge Green P on the front and is free to download you probably already have it, but dont want you to be unprepared. Best building regs book is The green one, electricians guide to the building regs, it knocks the spots off the OSG. ( My opinion ). Get it quick - whenyou start reading it you may find you have more learning to do than you thought, I say this because if you are ready for assesment, you should know the regs arse backwards. If you have run out of time, base what study you can do on safety, as thats what we are all about.

Well said Jason I find the building regs better than the OSG for a lot of things and having that book could be part of the desk top review.

I think it would be a priority for you to get the building regs book They may well ask to see it
Did they send you a list of the esential books to have ?

Do you fit smoke alarms,if so they may ask to see Bs 5839-6 (fire alarms in dwellings )

If you haven't time to buy them, borrow them

I had the benefit of being taught how to learn things, here are a few ways over the Approved documents :
A. Structures remeber it by A - rse Hole. (holes notches etc.)
B. Fire. Burn !
F. Ventilation Fan - ny ( sorry )
E. Passage of Sound E lvis sounds good ( he does ! or did )

Make your own up, rules are the beginning letter of the document, something about that document i.e. whats in it must be in your memory prompt. They can get hilarious. The further you depart from the rules, the harder to remember. ( and funnier they get ). when you get one that cant be beat, youll find everyone using the one you made up, just shows the human mind !! Few others coming flooding bac now, M- access mobility, etc.
