This is a challenge for both Trainees and Mentors alike.

Terminate a ceiling rose with a loop in/out using twin & earth and lets see how good you can do it? Easy challenge for all of us and I'm expecting nothing but excellence from the mentors . Marvo, Sintra, Sirkitbreaker, Tel, you have all been nominated to have a go and show us your install lol. (this should be interesting?)

I've already posted up my picture on another thread but I will have another go and have a bit of fun with it later in the week.

Edit:- A prize is up for grabs for the best Trainee ceiling rose picture!

The forum sponsor Test-Meter has donated a great prize just for the Trainee section! Almost £100 worth of a multimeter that any Electrician would love to have. Get your pictures up.

Just noticed that there is too much copper showing on the terminals DOH. I'll give myself (as a professional electrician) 9 1/2 out of ten lol.

Come on lads, show us how it is done

I'll have a go when I can find the box of roses in my van!

My van is still at the garage (5 weeks now [insert swear word here] :censored: ) and all my stuff is in the house and Mrs. M is not impressed! In the effort to get rid of some of it I've filled a box to give to Steve for his practice board.

HT, looking forward to your picture and the other Mentors. I knew this would be interesting

Come on Trainees, show us lot what you are made of!?!?

Give me a week or 3 i have about 25 to do for real, i will post up my best effort.

OK, paul. you asked for it. i make no excuses for the red/black. it's just the 1st bit that came out the scrap bin. it's not perfect but that's ageing eyes and 6 pints to blame for that. pendant flex left out for clarity ( not really, coz. i'd pinched it for a repair lasst week)

Nice, now lets see you terminate 21 circuits into a 4 way Wylex rewireable fuse board, only joking mate. My house was wired like this though when i bought it, wish i had photo'd it all those years ago before i replaced it, the new (10 years ago) CU is all neat and tidy 'ish', just need to get round to testing it some time!

Cheers.............Howard

This feels like telling the Head Master off but here goes.....

Pig tailing!!! I'm sure there is a reg regarding the bending of wires/cable???? 4 times the width???? Glenn could tell you all about it lol! Its his birthday tomorrow btw, send him a card Tel  I'll ask Glennsparks to wire up a ceiling rose and I'll post it up in here later in the week.

I knew this thread would be interesting

I'm head spark doing a first fix on a 12 x apartment block. 18 light fittings in each apartment!!!!! I'm board already pulling in cables on the first floor. I'll take some photo's and post them up in time to come to show the Trainees.

Now what would happen if you shoved a ferrite core through those loops?

Nothing. The equal balance of positive and negative would not produce a magnetic field for a ferrite core to pick up (so I believe? Correct me if I'm wrong mate)

Archey, are you going to post up a picture of your ceiling rose talents? When we were all younger, that would have meant something else

See you in Manchester in a few weeks if I can (99% sure atm)

Not done any celing roses like this in a while, This is from my first ever house rewire about 3 years ago, dont do many of these now adays seen as i usually do commercial but you get the odd one or 2
