Is there much difference, apart from price or is it the same as using a vehicle manufacturer for servicing?
You use them till the warranty is up then go down the road to the cheaper garge who does the same job but doesnt stamp your book with 'BMW' etc.

Only ask as my nearest Seaward authorised agent is 50 min drive away and Im looking at £100 + VAT [plus petrol in a 3.0l V6 car] or 5min down the road for £60 with an unauthorised agent.

Boh supply a calibration certificate.

Dont see that it matters you need a calibration certificate for your meters no one that I know of requires a specific certificate so go to the cheapest.

Turns out the company that charges £60 then adds VAT plus carriage to Liverpool ontop so Im looking at £84 notes all in.
May try looking around London again.

Seaward explained it to me like this..............
They know the life of their components, so by using them for service/calibration, they replace what is coming to the end of its life. Prevents breakdowns supposedly.

Bit like going to a main dealer for you car, they aught to know everything about your piece of kit, whereas an unauthorised will know a general bit of all testers. Having said that, there really aren't many moving parts or things to wear out are there in a meter so calibration , in my experience, involves parting with cash and getting a piece of paper with calibrated on it and 'no adjustments necessary' in little writing somewhere near the bottom of the page :mad::eek:

yer right like they are going to replace anything before it breaks down, rubbish.
have you asked your local wholesalers, they may even have a trade day coming up where you can get it calibrated same day.

There's a company on flebay called OSC or something, charge £40 which includes free delivery back to you, i've used them and got my cal cert so i'm happy, cost me £8.00 DHL to send to to them though.

Cheers gents. Found a place coming down to where I live in 10 days time. There doing all of Speedys gear. They said its £75 all in and its only a 2 min drive from my place! :D Downside is they were 10 min down the road from me at another place 2 days previously!

I can see where your all coming from about cars and main dealer servicing but would Bentley change the gearbox or do an engine rebuild if they saw it coming on a service?

Besides, my Pug is a 406 coupe and I took it too my local Pug dealer 2 years ago for a service and was told by the main bloke.......

"We do service them but this is the first time Ive seen one so were give it a go"

Needless to say I found an old boy locally who works out of his garage and he did the work snd subsequently all the work since!
