Jubilee clip and bailing twine - but at least they had a bash at bothering with an earth :)

LOL
I think it must have been a farmer with a conscience? The SWA was buried at 2 inches - helpfully dug up by some pigs :)

hahaha!! nearly as good as the one i saw where the SWA was not terminated but the spark used 1 of the strands put some sleeving over it and terminated it in the CU...!! wish i got a picture!!

You say that as if it's bad thing !!!
I say let them at it . Grave diggers still need work !

I would have used something a bit cheaper than a jubilee clip, whats wrong with tape?

In the voice of Yoda - Insulation Tape...an electrician it is like. Both a bright side and a dark side it has. Binds the electrical universe together it does!:D

i worked on a contract moving machinery at a major lighting manufacturer near doncaster about 40yr ago and they would not buy cable glands they insisted we used short pieces of conduit & 2 jubilee clips , unless we bought the glands at our cost

All i can say to that is, ...The Engineer in charge at that time wasn't worth a crust mate!!! And 40 years ago, would have been very unusual too!!!

All the lamp post cutouts I've ever seen have a twin swa gland plate built in to the base.

You would treat it as a TT installation.

If the shared neutral is lost ,won`t you be getting 400v across both cottages? 2 phase US style but double the Voltage.

I'm familiar with many domestic extractor fans which are primarily class 2 (double insulated) and consequently are not required to be earthed...
