It's going to be delayed so long it'll become part of their manifesto for election in 2015! How on earth can they be serious about renewable energy with all this prevarication! Green Deal is going to be nothing more than insulation internal and external for the 1st 12 months - a real missed opportunity!

Is it not true that Accreditation bodies will be available from next month to enable green deal installers to join and be able to take advantage of carrying out any associated green deal work in properties?

I am sure they will be.

I spoke with Napit at Ecobuild and got a very clear stear from them that they expect the green deal assessors and those who carry out installations under the green deal to be separate people/businesses. He seemed to think it might be written into the scheme that you can't assess something and then tout for the work.

Anglian Home Improvements - can't see any of their products meeting the Golden Rule if past experience of selling windows and pv are anything to go by.

Toriga Energy Ltd - formed on 12th Feb 2012 - yes 12th Feb THIS YEAR ie 7 weeks ago. I'm confused if the company has no track record and the Green Deal content hasn't been published how can you make such a new company a Green Deal provider? I can't see how they could get through the tender process - unless no-one else has applied ....

Which tender process do you mean? I thought Providers simply had to hand over a cheque to join the 'club'. There is a draft Code of Practice for them to comply with but nothing I can see in it that is a prerequisite for a new company joining.

There are lots of hoops for Assessors and Installers to jump through to gain accreditation but not Providers AFAIK.

Providers - Department of Energy and Climate Change

[h=3]How do I become a Green Deal Provider?[/h] In order to become an authorised Green Deal provider and operate in the market, companies will be required to:

  • Sign up to and comply with the Green Deal Code of Practice;
  • Sign up to the Green Deal Arrangements Agreement, a contractual agreement between Green Deal Providers and electricity suppliers governing the payment collection and remittance process;
  • Hold a valid CCA licence (if they wish to offer Green Deal plans for domestic properties);
  • Make appropriate provisions to provide protection for customers in the event the Green Deal provider becomes insolvent or loses its license;
  • Provide an appropriate independent conciliation process to help resolve customer complaints;
  • Pay the required fees to the Oversight Body for authorisation.

So, provided you agree to this you too can be a Green Deal Provider? There's no selection process? How can a new company get a consumer credit licence?

No selection process and only 22 applicants or has the government just limited it to 22 to start off with in which case there should have been a selection process.

The rather strange thing is that I didn't think that DECC had appointed an Oversight Body yet who are supposed to run the scheme - so there is no one for a prospective GD Provider to apply to or to accept payment.
