Surely if you were running a small printing business and had the binding machine, you could buy a digital version and copy it over quite easily ready to print, and hey presto... away you go. If you send a pdf to a chinese firm they can send you a printed book within 7 days. so its too hard to achieve.

Thing is, anyone who has a captive audience can and do exploit them. Best thing would be to make working to the Regs a legal requirement. This would both make bodged work a crime and the Regs would then published by the government like the building Regs are.

Electrians would be licenced in accordance with their training and qualifications.

Other countries can manage this so why can't we?

I think the forum members have come to this conclusion many times now.

All they are doing is protecting their asset, purely money making scheme. What they have done now has backfired. They have now highlighted to many electricians who are in the market for the regs book that their are counterfeit books available which are far cheaper. If they priced fairly, such counterfeit products would not exist. Where does all the money from napit, niceic registration go... surely that could fund future research.

If anyone's familiar with satellite field, dreambox had the monopoly, $800 dollars for a genuine receiver. Their boxes were clones by the chinese, software patched, worked just as well as original receiver for far less.

Same goes for sky. They advertised they were coming after users running cloned satellite boxes, this backfired massively. There was a sudden influx of users searching for these boxes.

Moral of story, at times it better not to shed light on such things. Lower price to a more affordable/fair price!
