Today is my first cigarette free day. It's going to be tough because my wife is not quitting as she says she can't, weakling hehe.
My chosen method, cold turkey. I got up at 8am it's now13:34 and so far no urges

Good luck mate!

I'm going for the ween myself method. Mate from London rolled up yesterday with these 'TABEX' pills he got off ebay. After hours of taking the **** of him buying chalk off the internet, tried a few and they do seem to work.

Near the end of day 3. Fell off the wagon today when my wife was tabbing away and had a couple of draws off her cigarette but other than that no major problems so far

cold turkey myself. But it was the sweating on a night as the crap is coming out of your body i found the worst. but 7 years on and 3 kids later any money saved from stopping as gone up the chimney, ha ha. but to all those who do stop or are trying keep going, as getting to the top of the stairs and having breather is definatly a wake up call.

i didnt read all 7 pages but if your serious about giving up and have tried and failed
the i suggest you try "alan carrs easy way to stop smoking" i tried always after 30 years of smoking this was by far the best and easiest

Well, I started smoking when I was 12, gave up when I was 14, started again when I was 16 gave up when I was 20, but started again in earnest at 24, after what i thought with hindsight, was a nervous mental breakdown brought about by a combination of peer pressure and nastiness from certain people who I had trusted. At that point I thought 'Up yours' I'll do whatever I like from now on regardless.
However, I don't crave cigs. when there is no facility to smoke. So it probably wouldn't take that much to kick the habit once I've kicked the demons out of my head. Bonkers or what?

Worked for me too, been off them for 2 months now ! :)

Done one year today without. Occasionally I feel like I could still just have one but there not cravings like I had when I was addicted.

I'm on day 18 now having smoked since 11, now 42. The girlfriend suggested we do it together as she only really smoked when I was at home. I haven't really found it a problem; when I wanted a cigarette I would consciously do something else.
now in the evenings I go for a wee run maybe only 3 miles, and that kills any desire to smoke. Best of luck to all giving up
