So in recent months I see Tom Nagy , Nick Bundy and now Artisan have all upgraded and got proper office space and storage units etc etc

I am pleased (yes genuinly) to see so many fellow traders to be kicking on and building up their business empires

My old boss in London started his business from a sh!tty old unit in Fulham in the late 60s and now runs an electrical contracting business employing about 45 full time staff (about 5 office and 40 sparks last time I spoke with them)

I was heavily involved in all aspects of street lighting and other highways electrical stuff for over 20 years. It's VERY boring.?

I've spent an awful lot of time doing it myself. Incredibly repetitive, out in the wonderful weather all year round and generally boring.

I do miss Rupert LAsparkTV Wire&Test Limited, his channel hasn't been active for quite some time.

I agree - I've met him two or three times - he was doing a charity job tackling a nightmare rewire in a former community centre when I turned up to help an old friend with extra manpower on a nightmare fire alarm install in the same building. He's a thoroughly pleasant chap off camera too.
I miss his video's too as they were well edited.

David savery is my fave cos he says it like it fekn is!

Yep, they are about the only two that have survived my recent cull. Both made very good content and don't waste time. I don't think I could every get into the mindset of trying to make a video and doing the job at the same time. Even setting up a camera in case something interesting happens feels rude to me in other people's premises. Horses for courses and fair play to them that can.

I know a few guys who charge decent money, but spend it all on vans/tools etc etc and are still living in rented. The mind boggles

I remember on one of TN very first vids he gave a rough break down of what he tries to earn / charge in a day it was around a grand a day

Hence he can afford the shiny new vans and big unit

He always struck me as someone who had a plan and the bits & pieces I've seen of late suggest he's been working in that direction.

2 or 3 sparks and couple working admin. Warehouse with store, office space etc, as opposed to a storage unit that seems to be gaining popularity among Youtube sparks. Think he has 3 vans and the big truck on the road. Good luck to him.

He put his outgoings on a video and if i recall correctly they were £52k a year.

You don't make money by being a good electrician though. You need to be a good businessman.

Nagy sounds like he is probably a good businessman going by the last few comments.

He's certainly got ambition and obviously enjoys working. In all honesty I'm just looking to finish early and get home most days at the moment. Perhaps a little burnt out from the pandemic etc and having a little one at home who I want to see.

There is no way to tell if the vehicles are leased or on HP as I doubt them being purchased outright, with leasing or HP as long as the work comes in to pay the monthly charges then everything carries on normally it's when you can't pay the monthly charges that the business gets unsustainable

Any business is only as good as the people they employ and maintaining quality and productivity standards you have worked too can be difficult as you expand

I'd expect his vehicles are leased and can't comment on how profitible his business is, but it's clear that he's working to a plan.

Come to think of it; I saw one of his videos a few months back were he talked about using debt in order to expand.
