They certainly do things differently in some countries...

Too much screen time on my hands, so I came across this video about wiring a "receptacle" and thought it quite interesting in a nunber of ways

In 99% of vids I have seen of American / Canadian electrics they always use an impact driver to make off connections and a funny spinny screwdriver to attach the front plate

The quality of work in USA generally seems to be poor compared to here. It generally looks rough and amateur in most videos I see.
It possibly harks back to when their timber built houses were thrown up very cheaply and generally only expected to last a few years , no point doing rolls-royce wiring when the houses had such a short life expectancy

One rather odd aspect to the USA wiring code is it originated from fire prevention reasons by the National Fire Protection Association, rather than the UK's example where it originated from the IET (in its former name) and driven perhaps more so by the risk of electric shock.

You think the Americans do things differently , check out this wiring...

I haven't got a clue what he is banging on about and have never seen wiring like this

Interesting indeed...
I particularly like the one-screw fixing for the bulb-holder, long enough sharp screw to penetrate right through the timber into the area where the cables are.

Vive la difference! I have worked in 17 different countries and I have to say, that when in Rome, I enjoy doing as Romans do, and bringing a little of the mindset and lingo back with me. When one wants to discuss the merits of different kinds of socket installation, it's good to have experience of connecting appliances by wrapping the leads around two nails driven into a 2x2.
