Hi All,

Anyone in or been in this situation. Im 44 and been doing mostly domestic (running my own company which is now a one man band). My body is starting to struggle with arthritis, I know that 5 years from now I wont be able to be doing this working up your own arse domestic stuff.
I dont know weather to have a complete career change where there is no heavy labour involved, which would mean starting over doing god knows what. Or do i continue for know do my 18th edition update course and do some kind of C&G level 4 course ( not sure what avenues i could study towards?) part time so that I can hopefully land myself a less laborious role in a few years time. Not sure what the hell to do

Don't get excited. I seem to be missing alerts to threads I've posted in. Your post gave me a message, but I think I've come across threads I've posted in, but no alerts?
Me as well Midwest, I get some alerts but not others.....seems to be after a certain length of time the alerts stop regardless of the thread is running

Talking about future etc.

Did I see a thread by Essex saying he was retiring? I thought I seen it earlier on in the week but when I went back looking for it there was no sign of it.

If he is fair play to him. Money made he's still a young man.

This Forum is not just words on a screen.

He posted a thread saying he was leaving the forum and wished us all well people started to post replies then it got removed like the one when I posted Pete had left (he is now back). Is that more than 5 words?

What sort of turbines are you working on?

I did a load of commissioning/FAT/SAT work for a controls upgrade on some Siemens machines last year, It was quite interesting, had all the compressor controls built into the TCM.

I work on the American Solar Turbines. Both compressors and Generators. Single and 2 shaft, Hot and Cold end drives...

Mostly the controls. (PLC’s) instrumentation and Electrical although we assist the mechanical blokes with lube oil filters and general block head work.

Scouser tel's got his other ways of making a bob or two, though.…..the odd set of ally wheels here and there.;)
had to give that up. back won't allow bending low enough. now if only I could nick a decent car lift.........
