Just been called to this beauty as previous electrician wanted more money ( in cash) up front and walked to quote "cut his losses".

Mounting board has been removed. Meter has been moved by said electrician. And yes it has been wedged in pushing the gas feed across.

I wish I could say it's a Photoshop job. However this is reality.

Looks like someone didn't look at it close enough when they quoted / surveyed.
Bet they were horrified when they opened the cupboard FOR THE FIRST time and realised what space they had to work with.

Looks like a shelf below, with cutout under?
Is there room to remove the shelf and lower the meter, get the energy supplier in to lower the meter?

SSE have already been out and are somewhat annoyed. Apparently he removed the wooden mounting board as it was illegal and needed to be metal!

Existing 4 fuse unit is to the right at 90 degrees. Why a 10 way split board? ???

Half of me wants to walk away, however, these people are in serious distress and have already been stung for 4.5k for the boiler and 1.7 on the rewiring.

Should have added. He tried to bill extra for lifting the upstairs sockets as that was the law now. However, that didn't apply to downstairs.

Lights are all in 1mm.

I think he'd exceeded his skill level by the time he put the 2 (or is it 3) screws in the C.U

And what was he going to do with the "Don't know" cable?
I know, he doesn't know what he was going to do with it.

It's always been a mystery as why some people spend more time doing things wrong than they would have doing them right.

Nowadays you can blame it on U-tube videos but what was their excuse before.

Domestic installations in T&E I only ever use 1mm now, with LED lights there should be no need for anything else.
Of course, normal design constraints will apply.

No. Not for drop or area. Just don't see it often.

I think with the advent of more and more LED lights and Tungsten and Halogen being phase out we will see more and more lighting circuits in 1.0mm, maybe in the end going even smaller, the advent of very low Amp RCBO's is just around the corner.
