Hi All

I have no experience of working with 3 phase (over and above jointing HV stuff!) when I run a 3 phase cable for say three motors each rated at 16amp, is it normal to run one suitably sized cable as a radial to pick up all three motors or should they be separate runs?

Where are you running the cable, how far, what type of cable. Don't mean to be non committal but it's all relevant to your question, in a workshop for example you could use busbar trunking and tap off at each point, depending on the loading of the machines and the size of the trunking conductors.

Aah. It's a workshop question but quite large about 11m x 14m, had never heard of busbar trunking, Can I take 230v phase supplies off this as well, if this is the case this is obviously what they are looking for us to put in.

Would you run normal sockets off a busbar system or also run radials and or final ring circuits in addition?

Thanks for your help.

Yes you can take SP&N at tap off points, I suppose you could tap off to a small DB to feed your RFC etc, but your trunking conductor section would need to be sized accordingly, it's been a while since I used it but when I did it was the best thing for workshops.
