Hi all, been asked to install sub meters in an office building which is being sub divided and let out as smaller units.
The owner/landlord intends to recover power costs fro tenants in each unit.
Haven’t been to site yet, but understand the following:
- Each smaller unit has its own sub board ( which I understand is 3 phase)
- don’t know if any 3 phase equipment will be used.
Not done any sub metering before, so looking for informed advice before I attend site i.e. will a standard three phase meter be suitable; when is the use of CTs advisable; recommendations on meter supplier etc.
TIA

The meter should be MID approved. You can use three phase meters stand alone or DIN mounted. However I might be inclined to suggest it will be a lot cheaper to use one phase for each or something like that? The switchgear and so on cost a lot more for three phase than single phase. Most offices just want a ring final circuit, radial for comms and lighting. I suppose you need to see their spec/plans.
