Has anyone had a similar problem. Was called to light that didn't work, someone had obviously had a fiddle after it had stopped working as neutral had not been reconnected properly. Anyway sorted that and got light working but when you turn the light off on the timer switch the light flicks on and off very quickly. Can only assume when the bulb blew originally it damaged switch. Any ideas.

I changed to a normal bulb and its all works fine. Very strange how it worked for months with low energy bulb then had enough. Thanks for advice. Funny how customer was upset I still charged them £20 to go round and sort it out, even though it saved them over £20 for new switch.

My guess is an earth to N fault in the damaged light fitting. This will become a problem when other devices draw large currents.
