Hi

I need to fit a timer in my loft (no access to daylight) and I want to power my immersion element in my hot water tank during daylight hours (whilst my solar is generating electric.....)...

I waned to know if there was such a timer that "knows" the dawn and dusk times (or can be programmed) and then adjusts by the 2 minutes day accordingly between 21st Dec and 21st June.....

Thanks
Jason

Welcome to the forum Jason, I have approved your thread for the general forum although your asking this question from a perspective of having no electrical knowledge so when admin' is net on line you may be given DIY status and the thread may be relocated.

There are timers which do the exact opposite of what you want, and any electrician worth his salt will be able to adapt that to do the job.

But there are much better options out there, there are devices which sense the amount of power being exported from the PV and then regulate the immersion heater accordingly to use only the excess power generated to heat the hot water. Again a decent electrician will be able to fit such a system

Thanks Lee Sparky from Kent...

Reading up on the iBoost....looks exactly what I need... even better than just daylight time, actually measures when I'm feeding back to the grid...
