Just a thought. How about a thread covering hints and tips, nothing too technical, just if any members have useful tips or know of gadgets that save time and money ( without cutting corners, of course ) let's have 'em

agree with sirkit, keep a good, organised stock and when getting low on something write it down..

best tip, write everything down.customers names and numbers, when i first started out the amount of times i needed to phone a customer to ask if i could be early or late and didn't have their no. or i had their no. but not their name.

on that one, sintra, i've cheated by bending the SWA up to the box, then fitting the gland to the SWA first, then gland into box. if i'm a bit out it just means a slightly tighter or slacker bend.

That's not cheating!! I've put the gland on the cable many a times before I've fitted the gland to the entry! You have to in some instances otherwise you will have no hope. Try glanding a 90mm 4 core swa swooping into a bit of kit with the gland on the machine first. No chance.

Not the best tip in the world but as I have to in order to make this post not pointless... If you've cut the wrong sized holes, put the bigger holecutter on your arbour with the smaller one screwed on top. Assuming you've cut them smaller!! If not your buggered

You would have thought they'd have a switch to flick on and off to engage an override. Not on each PIR but an actual light switch
