hi guys, just done a EICR and am filling in the cert. I have never come across this before, I have no earth at all on the sheath clamp when carrying out Ze. Checked L to the clamp and only getting 5 volts. Im getting 12ohms Zs on all circuits obviously through the water and gas bonds. I must surely code this a C1. What you think?

if there is a clamp on the sheath , then it's a call to DNO emergency service. they should come straight out.

thanks guys, already told customer to call DNO. Maybe you could advise a bit further. there is no form of rcd at all old or new style, there is an extension lead going through a wall into another room supplying a DSSO which supplies 2 x lights (plugged in) then out the back of socket is a SWA cable showing plenty of basic insulation which runs on the ground up to a shed supplying another DSSO....all this with no RCD protection at all. Most of the sockets are spurs of spurs off the ring. Main earth and main bonding conductors all 6mm. Help

definitely at least a C2 for SWA and outside socket with no RCD, and C2 for unfused spurs. C3 for no RCD on house sockets. C2 for no bathroom RCD if no supp. bonding, otherwise a C3.

I never bother telling the customer to call the DNO, as they would only mess the call up. Do it yourself and make sure you get through to the right department.

I don't understand why you would ask the customer to contact the DNO on such a serious condition?? 9 times out of 10 customers wouldn't have a clue what they are talking about when contacting the DNO. Your the electrician on site, it's down to you to act on your customers behalf, even if that only means getting in touch with the right person, and being able to explain the situation in full....
