Hi all.

Is it my responsibility or the suppliers responsibility to upgrade the earthing conductor on a TNCS system from 10mm to 16mm.

I'm completing a CU upgrade for an Elecsa assessment and as part of this am replacing the Meter tails and the earthing conductor to comply with current regs.

At present, the earth runs from the PME unit into the existing CU with no separate MET.

Can I simply remove this cable and run a new one in 16mm csa?

If so, how do I gain access to the unit? It has a 100A fuse and is not sealed.

I am not familiar with the equations to calculate the correct csa, so I'm just using the OSG for guidance on the earthing conductor sizing.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you are replacing the meter tails, you will be making a temporary connection to the old tails or fitting an isolator, unless you intend interfering with their equipment,eg the meter and its seal and cast aside protocol
If you intend to upgrade the earth conductor, you could make your own Met and connect your 16mm and the pme 10mm to that met,you could then make an application for connection to the metering company
Because what gets connected to the meter is their remit

However,if you intend connecting the tails yourself, you just as well go the full Hog and replace the earth as well

By not knowing the answer to this question,I would advise you should consider the danger before going ahead with self connecting these items
