hi all,
been to look at a job where the tns supply has a 4mm stranded cable sweated to sheath and going to met.
been on the phone to edf trying to get this upgraded but unable to speak to anyone
what is the way forward with this problem as i dont want to tt the supply, just get the earth upgraded

Jason was going on about some spring loaded clamps.Haven't used them myself,i would be a bit worried over tightening them.It would probably be best to let the DNO deal with it.Sorry i can't be of more help.

You have two choices
1 - take 16mm from MET and connect onto 4mm. This is a common method and I know that the 4mm does not comply, your choice.
2 - Apply for PME this will cost you but be a proper solution to the problem.

Note: do not use standard pipe earth clamps on paper lead cable as you will risk crushing the lead into the cores dont forget that the service cable will be protected by up to 630A fuses at the sub and the DNO LV network works on a 100 second disconnection time, just enough to burn your house down:eek:

thanks for the replies ;)
managed to get hold of supplier and they have got seimens coming on friday to upgrade so all should be well  depending on who attends
