Firm I work for and travel time policy equates to first and last hour is MY time (Unpaid) anything over is paid by requesting travel number against job ( checked against tracker) ie Aberdeen 3.5 hr travel there 3.5 back 4hrs work means I get 9hrs if I request 5.5 hrs id get that as stopping for loo ect even got time one day when I was stuck for an hour in traffic Didnt expect it but gaffer said that was tracker readout
CBW You say your guys get van/desil for private use I hope you also pay the TAX on it as thats why firm I work for got trackers after investigation by TAX Office they can now prove NO Private milage and as such I dont get taxed for it
I think that with cars, if you can show that you have another vehicle which you use for private use, then HMRC can be forced into not taxing you for it.we sign a form to say no private miles for van use, cant do it for cars, you get taxed the same for vans and cars for private use now,not worth it imo, someone might get a nasty tax bill if not done correctly..:whatchutalkingabout

I think it depends how far your employer wants to push it.not sure,at our place cant opt out with cars, only vans

For instance Police officers drive cars, I doubt that HMRC taxes them on their use.
Perhaps in rural areas, but in London very unlikely.aye, quite often seeing the polis taking the family out in the patrol car..
Or...ayup...traffic jam: on go the sirens (till they have got past the jam of course)...........aye,quite often seeing the polis taking the family out in the patrol car..
