Henry every time, hes thrown around in the van, used abused and still manages to keep the wall chaser dust under control. best tool i own IMHO.

I have had a henry for 5 years and it can cope with anything.

Not 400V at the motor. Plugged mine into a socket connected to a length of electrak 27 bus bar and it blew up. Some idiot had connected cables incorrectly at live end giving 400V at socket.

As far as I am aware they always supply spares. The good thing about the design not changing, is that they dont have "old models".
Worth giving them a bell, if you have stilll got him, they are not cheap, but the do last!
And is it just me, but Henry always looks happy!

I'm confused by Henry!

I am currently using a old Miele (cast off from my wife) which does the job very well apart from a pretty small bag so I need something else. My parents have a henry and it is crap - appears to have plenty of suck but never appears to actually clean the carpets properly!
My experience is mirrored by pretty much every review (including Which?) I have read on the net.

So why is it that Henry is so popular in the trade? Are they really that good at collecting dust and rubbish when then cannot clean a carpet properly? Or is it that you guys are more worried about convenience and how robust they are rather than their performance.

A genuine question - I am not trying to knock Henry - I just don't get it.....

it's because the henry is a vacuum cleaner. it , like all others, sucks. loose dirt, dust, debris will be sucked in. anything that is stuck solid to a carpet ( cat poo, baby sick, beer stains etc.) will not be picked up.

so get your wob out of the hoover and use it for its use.lol
pervert......

Don't have cats or babies and my beer goes in my mouth thanks....;)
My Miele is a vacuum cleaner too and does a damn sight better job of dust and hairs from carpets! I am wondering it is is more down to the brush heads rather than how much suck they have which perhaps isn't so relevent for clearing up building rubbish....

perhaps their henry isn't functioning properly, I actually prefer mine than the dyson we have to be honest, still if we all liked the same things we would have no choices, Mine performs well fella and it has had some serious stick since I have had it, I will buy another when he finally hangs up his vaccuum bags.

crazy

Don't get me wrong the Dyson is very good, but at the price the henry is better IMO, if the bag is replaced regulary it is great for clearing up sparks mess on sites, the Dyson would probably do a better job but not much and is double the cost, plus I bet the Dyson won't take the battering henry takes, hence my overall winner is ???? haha

@MDJ you make a good point about cost and robustness. The Miele is over ÂŁ200 and definitely not as tough as a henry (although better than dyson I think)

As someone who worked in the appliance repair trade many many moons ago im stepping in with some FACTS.

its a vacuum you morons , hoover is just a brand
and specifically its a cannister vacuum
its made by Numatic as pointed out earlier
and the reason they are so good is the unbelievably simple design coupled with an exceptionally reliable motor.
here endeth todays sermon.
;-)
