Is, how come my IP66 sockets are full of earwigs when I lift the cover off, I thought they were supposed to stop the ingress of pretty much anything.

Maybe I just have too much time on my hands.

Down2earth.

Not such a silly question.
Microbes start off smaller than specks of dust and grow into big hairy gonzillas.
I've opened up IP rated Gwizz boxes to find them full of slugs. The most obvious is drainage holes, but then, anything buried below grass level attracts all sorts of bugs and possibly worst is corrosion caused through water penetration!

Are your IP rated boxes mounted on things that move? like trees...

My parents' ones were - they soon were cleared out of their contents (I was shocked) - and then saw a TON of sealant into the screw holes etc that had become "open".
