Soooo, I'm proud of our resource system here so plugged it to the tilers.

Resources for Electricians

They had something to ask (second post).

Checkout their resource section mind.

The magazine is called tile and stone journal lol

And to be fair the tile types being fitted these days are huge and tough so their cutters cost hundreds if not thousands. And the amount of surface types that can be tiled and the amount of adhesive types and classifications creates a minefield of headache compared to the 6x6 ceramics and sand/cement adhesive back the in day.
That's it dan I'm sure if you keep going you'll make Tiling sound Interesting lol,
Only kidding It's like anything in life they probably think we are a bunch of miserable sods that also in a boring trade,.

I think we are losing Dan, tie a rope to his leg so we can pull him back when he gets all googlie eyed at the ceramics! SNAP OUT OF IT MAN - you're in IT!

I'm a wall and floor tiler by trade, used to run a tiling training centre, the forum was one of the first I did for a trade and it was to help ex-trainees to have a place to continue learning. I'm in IT by accident. But only now. I haven't always been.

I got into tiling as a side line to my business. Basically I do a lot of re-furb and renovation work theses days. So it is more cost effective to be multi skilled for my business. I trained originally in electrical & mechanical engineering so already skilled in electrics and plumbing. I enjoy joinery and did a night class training and have years of experience in that also. so that just left plastering and tiling left to master. I've been doing both now for the last few years, I hate plastering , but enjoy tiling. I find it a nice change from time to time.
I've got a Rubi tx 700 which I bought when they came out, it's a great cutter!

Oops sorry lads, just realised I'm on the wrong forum lol!!

A 700 wouldn't be long enough for your average job these days. Good breaker on them though. The sigma 9p is what they bang on about now but I left the trade before they were popular over here so I'm still a Rubi lad.

Yeah, we are doing a job this week and the tiles are 800 x 200. Fortunately I have a really good tiler who subs to me and he has got a tx1200. Its a bit of a beast though, got it set up on the landing at the house we are working on and it just takes up all the space! We were chatting about which cutters the best, he prefers the Rubi simply because you can easily see the scribe line.
I have a little ts40 I had given me as well. It was in a poor condition so I re-furbished it, modified the breaker slightly and it is now a lovely little cutter.
