Tool storage?..............................................

Hello all

I have a very comprehensive kit of electrical tools, including brands such as knipex, wera and wiha, and all different size tools. However, my storage seems very muddled and split up.
What do the pros do to store their tools?
any suggestions?

Stanley fatmax backpac for hand tools and from the lockbox in the van I have recently been carrying small items and battery tools into the house in a B+M bag for life - makes me chuckle!
I like to advertise as I go! Funny thing is that I found the bag blowing along the road so I adopted it.

Veto Tech LC with TP4 for hand tools, all my power tools are Bosch so kept with their L-Boxx system.

Got a couple of extra grey Sortimo L-Boxx boxes off Amazon recently to keep other bits in which all stack on top of each other nicely in the van.

I got one of these which works pretty well, only problem is it soon fills with masses of tat an weighs a tonne.

thinking of getting one of the wheely ones so i can ponce along like an air hostess.

I work with controls so I get away with lugging a Veto MC for hand tools (no hammers or anything big required) with an Veto MB meterbag clipped on the side

I use a separate bag for numbers, ferrules and other consumables

A lot of people comment on it's small size but it's packed with 12 kg of tools usually double what they have in a bag 3 times the size

Plus we go overseas with work and size / weight is always a factor


I like the organisation they give , also have an XL which lives mostly in the garage

I'm a big fan of their stuff it's pricy but when I used to work out of a van I'd go through at least two Stanley or Ck bags a year

I bought the XL and that was used for 5 years so it paid for itself quite easily and is still in very good condition.

All in all something which most people find hard to justify buying

but I've not met anyone yet who has gone back to a run of the mill bag

One of the best cheap tool bags I had was a hard bottom Plano cost around £20 pretty tough and lasted well

I just hated digging in it for tools all the time

I currently use a tote bag and a couple of Stanley Fatmax weatherproof boxes for battery tools. A rucksack carries the test gear and laptop. Mainly so it's easier to cart on and off the van.

I was looking at the Milwaukee packout and Dewalt toughsystem, both very nice, but my current setup is more practical for the work I do. That and my wallet clammed up when I showed it the prices.

I started this week with my hand tools in a CK Magma 18" Tote, power tools in Dewalt Tstak boxes and all other tools contained in a Wiha Rolling tool case. This evening they are either in my pockets, liberally and randomly scattered in the back of my van in suppliers cardboard boxes, old ice cream tubs, black buckets and tesco carrier bags!
