Phil

I thought I would start a new thread for really good after sales service.
sometimes it`s not only the product and it`s use but also the service we get afterwards that really makes a good product great. I for one would be quick enough to rant if I had a bad experience but sometimes not quick enough when I have a good one.

cable rod / super rod.
cant recommend these people highly enough. my tube broke and they replaced it free of charge and even offered to post it too me.
then like we all do I or someone i was working with misplaced the gender changer and this again was replaced free of charge first class post. emails are responded to within the next working day usually. the rods themselves have been great and i have only lost one maybe two and that was due to me abusing them (like we do) :)

Hilti, the best customer service and not just from a tools point of view. In my experience I think they are the easiest company to deal with can't fault them :D I phoned up with a problem with my torque control setting ring on my cordless, this was 9 in the morning UPS picked it up the same day at 2:30 it was back within 2 days completely serviced. Also when I went into the branch the other day the sales rep checked the system and told me which tools where nearing the end of their warranty and that I should get them in for a free service before it expired he did it without even asking.

Knipex everytime. Have a look for my previous thread. Had a set of side cutters and the handle fell off, a sales manager from germany came over and met me in my home town (Otley) near Leeds to personally appologies and give me replacements.

I still cannot comprehend how a company can have such good values in this day and age. I honestly will never buy another brand for cutters, pliers etc again.

Thats the Germans for you, most of their companies are still family run even if part of a larger group and they have a great sense of responsibility and duty, great service :D

Not a local rep, he flew over from Germany in the morning to Newcastle, popped in to see a dealer on his way down and then met me in Otley a few hours later.

What I also really liked was that he didn't stand there blaming everything under the sun for the fault, he explained what they believed caused the fault and also told me a bit about their company and how they prevent things and how it could have got through QC. I was left with nothing but confidence in future purchases (in fact I spent ÂŁ425 that afternoon on more Knipex gear when I got home)

Bosch customer service I have found very good,
I have one of there industrial jigsaws for well over 3 years,
managed to burn it out cutting a load of cement boards, called the help line they then collected it mended it and returned it back to me free of charge and did not quibble about how long I had had it for even though it was well out of warantee.
Happy Days :D

OK this one is a little off the wall...............I use Halfords Professional socket sets, preferring the hollow tube sockets as they are a must for deep nuts and threaded bars. Snapped the ratchet and it was replaced without quibbling.

Can also vouch for CK tools too...:D. Then again they are a Welsh/German family owned company....

Makita.

Bought a new cordless a couple of years back which developed a gearbox fault.

After bad service from my local dealer, called them direct.

They sent a courier to collect on the Monday, drill replaced with a brand new unit on my doorstep by Thursday.

Nice.

I have a LXT 18v Makita lithium ion kit Impact Driver, Combi Drill, SDS and Jigsaw and have to say the tools are very robust and still going strong after a good few years use.
The only problem is with the batteries as I started off with 5 and am now down to 2 because 3 of them have developed a fault and will not charge (just worn out ?)
But the replacement batteries are avaible on ebay for about ÂŁ60 I think.
For what the tools cost and the amount of use they have had I would say they are fairly good value.
Cheers Chris.:D

i have had epsons for years now. i had one break a week or so after the guarantee gave them a ring and no problem a brand new one the next day and full of ink and it had had some right use

I have to say that i had a Makita Li-ion which developed a gearbox problem, i returned to the company i bought it from (before i started my own up).
They brushed me off with the "we don't deal with that" excuse.
I rang Makita direct and even tho it was out of warranty by 6 months they replaced it for a brand new unit within 3 days.
