HI everyone, just after a little advice, as I posted in the welcome section I'm starting my training in January firstly by doing Part P and 17th Edition so I can start work in domestic properties. I have the rare chance of going self employed after my training as I already do private work in TV installation, Aerial Installs, CCTV and Sound and Lighting equipment.

Thing is I'm looking at what testers apart from the obvious Socket Tester, Multimeter and Clamp Meter.

Thanks in advance

Cool cheers for that, just need to get an idea of what I need tp pay out for

WAs looking at the Fluke 1652b or Megger MFT1552, that the type of testers I should be after??

If you are going to be doing alot of CCTV work a Rapport II would be usefull
it has the multimeter built in,
in addition it is a test monitor for focusing a camera,
a patern generator to to put a test image down a coax,
it tells you the video levels so that you can tune in active/passive balums,
it has the option to control cameras using various telemtries
and Cat5e cable tester

if you are feeling a bit rich you could buy the Rapport II Pro
it has a built in DVR which records to SD card so that you can record the image from a camera
(I have this model and I have never used that function)

Do Not buy the Ramport 337, the amp meter on the multimeter drains the batteries and it means you only get 15 minutes user time.

again with CCTV
If you focus a vari focus camera during the day it can be in focus during the day and out of focus at night.
This is because the wavelength of infra red light is narrower than white light.
So to save making a revisit at night you will require a set if filters, these cost about ÂŁ120
or you could go to Machine Mart and get a welding fiklter for ÂŁ3.50 and you won't be as p****d off with you drop it off a ladder

Focus meter, I bought one and wish I saved my money

Richard
