Tools stolen

i get fuming if one of my tools goes walkies cant imagine how you feel losing all of them thats a bummer mate is ther site security perhaps cctv of people leaving site doubt there would be any cctv inside the factory but perhaps in certain areas near entrances.

youd think the police would speak to the employees of the site or atleast check the visitors book on that day and chase up a few people but like usual the police are no help what so ever

good luck getting them back or a spanking new set paid for mate

what i do is either with a engraving tool or a soldering iron, from cutters to drivers is put my initials on all of my gear, spoils the look i know but makes them easier to trace and harder to sell, even on company supplied gear i stamp their name on it,as your responsible for that too if its issued solely for your use...

Sorry to hear about the theft mate.

Got me thinking, do we know exactly what is in our toolboxes? I have a rough idea but if I had to put in a claim I'm sure I would forget things. A while ago I took all the tools out each box, laid them on the floor and took a picture. Probably need to do it again though given how often I move stuff about.

Just a thought!

we had a load of gear go missing from a well known curry factory in the north west a few years ago,we were doing install and they had their own guys from india commissioning, anyway to cut a long story short a lot of guys were having things knicked, hand tools testers etc, well I clocked this indian guy who always took the key out of the control panel when he went anywhere so at dinner I got my key and opened panel you wouldnt believe what was in there, anyway after lunch when we were all on shop floor I asked a guy who had had gear nicked if he would take my key and open the panel for me while I was doing something else.I,ll leave it to you to work out what happened next, especially when one lad found where his new stilsons were living, needless to say we never saw our indian friends again

was working on a site last year and we locked up our gear everynight in a big sitebox, double mortice locks on it, chain round the lot, came in one morning and found one of the polski's going at the padlock with an angle grinder the dirty b****rd, couldnt believe it when the builder didnt get rid of him.

Do you know which guy "moved" them, I would not hesitate in investing in a new claw hammer and be waiting outside the factory at hometime in order to "jog his memory"

I know how you feel jase, I was raging but unless they are caught in the act, or in posession of the tools, theres **** all you can do. Believe me I would love to spin a 25mm end box onto a short bit of tube and "persuade" one of these scumbags to fess up. Any ways I shall be speaking to the old bill again on thursday, and I have e-mailed the gaffer about the cctv. I will let you know how I get on.
