I once drilled a 25mm hole for a gas pipe from the boiler position in the kitchen into the cupboard under the stair where the gas meter was. Got it a bit wrong & drilled into the hall - almost 3 FEET wrong !!!

Drilled a hole to run some SWA through the floor of machine shop to cellar where DB's were, 1000mm bit and still no sign below, turns out cellar was 10 foot shorter than machine shop!
