From a purely domestic standpoint, it simply isn't worth it IMO. How long have we been tightening MCB's up as tight as we can with our lowly normal flat head/pozi drivers with no adverse side effects.

All of a sudden some Norm thinks we should be using torque set drivers to tighten things up, If he wants to supply me with one, fair enough but I for one wont be investing in one any time soon.

I have my trusty halfords torque wrench for the bigger stuff where it matters and that will do!

Hurrrumppphhh!!!:veryangry2:

Think its a theme going here. I have seen these drivers as wholesaler was trying to pump them out, not for me though.
I must say i bought a proper MCB driver and I don't use anything else on them now, nice bit of kit.

enter the wago MCB.

I fitted a dual rail Hager board a while back and the earth termination was done in a Wago style strip. Screw terminals for larger diameters but a nice neat row of push-fits for T&E sizes. Only pain was that you can't grip your crocodile clip onto the bar for testing as it's all plastic!

I did too ... a pair of CKs in fact ..... and find that the insulation is so thick that I can't get them to fit down the screwholes of Wylex RCBOs.

Back to using "ordinary"screwdrivers .....

As with any trade/profession, it's all about experience. Just in the same way as whenever I use a screwdriver bit to run a long screw in, I always finish the last few turns with a screwdriver so that I can "feel" how tight a screw is. It's exactly the same with tightening MCB's, RCD's, etc. I need to have that tactile sense in order to know exactly what I am putting my name to.

I've got one:sad3:. If you use the recommended torque of 2N I can still give it at least another half turn with my other screwdriver!

As regards calibration, it did come with a cal cert and with a recommendation to get it calibrated annually:rolleyes:. Although assessor reckons they are good for 10,000 'clicks' which could be a few years! Now who's word do I take, manufacturer or assessor?

what do you expect in a country where regs and h&s have gone mad. i bought a packet of dry roasted nuts today. on the packet was the warning " warning, this product may contain nuts" FFS.

If I bought a packet of dry roasted nuts or any other kind of nuts I'd want more than just an outside possibility that the packet MAY contain nuts - that suggests the packet may not contain any nuts.

when i do a board i use one of my bosch 10.8"lady drills" set to 4 on the torque scale is about right then give it all tweak with a standard irazola.ive seen these and they were extortionate for what they are. its not as if its an 800A main switch you are dealing with.
another load of get out clause pish if ever i seen it
