Hello,

I know this is an electricians forum...which I am, but I have a problem with my boiler. I ran out of oil and have now replenished it but it won't come out of lock out mode. Every time I try to reset it, it fires up for a couple of seconds then goes to lock out. I understand that I need to bleed/prime the oil pump and I have tried to undo the brass nut but cannot budge it - this is the outgoing line from the oil pump which has a rigid pipe connected leading to the brass nut and screw. Does anyone have any suggestions please? It is a worcester 15/19 boiler and the pump is danfoss BFP 41 L3.

Thanks,

Lisa.

Haha ..... nice one Tel, but I'm sorry I know nothing about oil fired boilers - other than what the OP already knows. It needs bleeding, and he needs to undo the brass nut thing (technical term)

You can bet your Megger MFT that if something that has seized / cannot be unscrewed, then that's got to be the solution to the problem - every time!!!

the thingy that needs unscrewing will probably need a bit of gentle persuasion with a pair of grips to start ---. download the manual courtesy of geordie's link so you know what to unscrew. plumbers can usually do this sort of thing, so it can't be hard, can it?

You rough ar$e ........ use the proper tool - a spanner AND be sure to turn it in the right direction!! (posted for the benefit of the sparks on here) ;)

anyway, geordie. elex manchester, june, you coming down?

Thanks for replies, it is on the floor not wall mounted. I have already downloaded manual. Spoken to a plumber friend on the phone who says I am trying to move the right thing, but still having no joy. I have put some emergency barrels of oil in whilst waiting for delivery and this has bought level over pump level. Think I will wait for Brutas to get home and show me how the men do it...meanwhile I will go to my mums and wash all the oil off that i spilled over myself. Thanks.

Dunno Tel ....... being retired I don't have much use for new stuff. I was thinking about visiting the Harrogate show, but by the time I'd finished thinking the show had been & gone ....

It should come undone quite easy, silly question but have you got the correct size spanner and are you turning it the right way?
