Please help. I have a basic understanding of electirics, but 5 Electricians are stumped and I don't know where to go next. My mother in law heats her house by 4 Night Storage Heaters, all of which are wired to a Economy 7 supply/fuse board, with no RCD just MCB. The largest of the Night Storage Heaters began to fail and trip the MCD. To cut a long story short, she ended up having a new one fitted. Unfortunately this new one also now trips the MCB. The electricians have tried swapping the various supplies to the various heaters around in the E7 fuse board and the same heater is tripping the different MCB. It would be an obvious thing to consider that there is a fault on the circuit between the board and the night storage heater. However, they have now wired it into the day time board and it is not tripping. Has anyone got any ideas as we need to get it wired back into the E7 circuit??

This will be my last post on this

First time we were called to fault with storage heater there was a live to earth fault on the existing cable fed from E7 consumer unit on a 16 amp 60898 MCB I’m not sure what the installation resistance was I didn’t go

Deakon ran a new 2.5 cable to heater that then worked for 4 day before tripping the 16 amp 60898 MCB.

Then we had the callback the next day and the day after we then installed a new 2.55kw heater
And put it on same MCB

Still tripped I went back as you know was getting voltage drop top of main switch constant 230v bottom ov main switch fluchuating between 210v and 235v ( there was a very low bussing Sond coming from main switch ) clamp meter going up and down 13amp to 16amps

Voltage did not fluctuate until 4th new storage heater was energised the new one (dint know why this is a mistery to me as much as you)

MCB did not trip when I was there for 30 min before E7 when’s of at 7pm when main switch changed

Worked last night we rang customer this morning and storage heater nice and warm

It’s not something I would believe myself but I was there and that’s what was happening

I hate ELECTRICS LOL

Merry Xmas every one

Well, fault proven or not, if everything works and tests OK, they should have a warm and safe Christmas.
Same to you. Enjoy!
