hi guys i am new to this and was wondering if someone could give me the correct order for testing inspecting, dead then live i think i have a idea of what it is but not 100% sure
dead test
1.Continuity of protective conductors
2.Main and supplementary bonding continuity
3.Continuity of ring final circuit conductors
4.Insulation resistance
5.Polarity
6.Earth electrode resistance

then live:
1.Confirm correct polarity
2.Earth-fault loop impedance
3.Correct operation of residual current devices
4.Correct operation of switches and isolators

could anyone just confirm if that is right or wrong and if there is anything missing thx.

We got taught to use C.R.I.P.P.L..E.R mate which you will use in the 2392 should you do that..

Continuity of CPC
Ring Final INC end to ends
Insulation Resistance
Polarity (Dead)

Polarity (Live)
Loop Impedence
Earth External Loop Impedence
RCD tests

It's not far off there.

1 and 2 should be merged into 1 being "Continuity of protective conductors including main and supplementry bonding"

6 Earth Electrode Resistance using an earth electrode tester, as you can do a live test for this using a loop impedance tester. so when writing the test put in what instrument you would use for either way of testing.

On the live tests after Earth Fault Loop impedance you omitted Perspective fault current if you hadn't obtained this by inquiry.

3 and 4 on the live tests can again be merged into one "Functional testing including RCD and switchgear.

Forgive me Malcolm...i was merely giving him the 'text Book' list ;)

No mate what you gave him was the real world testing, and how it is really done, :D

What I hope I did was give him what the course and examiners want to see, who the heck after a course measures a rod using an earth electrode resistance tester, can't rememeber the last time I saw this meter let alone the 3 rods.

i read threw my exam booklet as were aloud to do online and ite set up like so

Type of Test: Continuity of CPC

Description of Test: Carrying out a continuity test to verify the CPC for(a given circuit) is complete from the furthest point in that circuit back to the origin / supply fuse of that
circuit.

Expected Result:Low ohm to clarify R1 + R2

so a little confused of ways it should be done as they pretty much tell me the first one is continuity of cpc alone. hmm
