Ok the main forum have a "Show us your installs thread" so its time for us lot to have one. Yours will be a little bit different, on the other thread people have a go at the members that post up pictures of their work, WE WILL NOT DO THAT. Ours will be constructive and we will help each other out on our way to becoming an Electrician.

It dose not matter if the picture/s you post up is from your training center workshop, home made test board, work you have done on site (if your lucky enough to be working and learning) or if it's a bit of electrical work you have done? Post up your pictures and let us all have a look and see how you do it and let T/S members give you feed back.

I'll go first!!! Although I am an Electrician, I'm not an Alarm Engineer. This is my attempt at an Alarm Main Panel. I only install about 6 a year so I would love the feed back from Moderator Tazz. I will class myself as a Trainee in this field so I'm just the same as you posting a picture up in your electrical learning field. Here we go..... Be gentle with me Mr. Tazz.

Resu that is a sexy looking board, excellent for a Sparky, never mind a 2nd year apprentice!!! All of your terminations are very very good, lets not look at the factory terminations lol. (they have the perfect environment and machines, and they still cant get it in the hole right???)

One thing that I must say is the C/U back cut out into the dry lined wall with insulation for the incoming cables is way to big. Think of fire barriers? I am 99.99% sure that it was not your call and that you was told to do it that way. Apart from that and a few very, very, very, very minor details, that picture should be in a book for other trainees to aspire to.

Great workmanship, I would be very very happy with that Resu. Good install mate

Annoyingly i had a few domestic split load boards i wired up on my old phone which broke so lost the pics. Will certainly post some new pics when i am back to work though:smile:

Sorry to read about your phone but happy to hear that your going to post up some pics  Go for it, nothing to loose.

I think instead of making judgement of Pauls installation, which is fine by the way, I think it would be more interesting to look exactly how he has install the system......With all alarm systems consisting of normally closed circuits, ie break circuit to activate the alarm, Paul has used a terminal block, to wire all incoming tampers in a continues loop (or series wiring) allowing the start and the end of the circuits to be wired into the 2 terminal tamper. The 12v Aux is used to power detection, such as pir`s, and with these circuits, unlike the tampers, are parallel circuits, therefore terminal blocks are usually not required, as long as all cables will physically fit into the terminals. Zone circuit being just one detector, are simple 2 wired N/C circuits (or loops) and can be terminated direct into zone terminals being used.

Been trainee since the start of this year and this thread has already inspired me to take my time to get my board tidier on my next practical college day rather than just concentrating on what wire goes where! Thanks guys!

This is from my 2365 L2 BEC2

Hi everyone I'll put my hand up for some critiquing. I'm an adult 1st year apprentice in Australia so some of my fittings and wire colours will be different to yours but the fundamental principles are the same.

These are a couple from a small packaging plant I was at last week. I've got no CU or meter shots I'm afraid as I'm industrial not domestic.

20A 3 phase IP56 outlet with isolator, panel is off to the left where the conduit is running.

Small motor DOL box. Note no start button, the orange circ coming out the top runs to a prox for control.

Cheers Paul. Yeah factory terminations, don't even get me started! (Made the mistake once - now just leave them tbh). You're 100% right with the hole size, although looking back now it's something I could improve on. I was taught to make it as big as the board cut-out on my first couple of boards to make life a little bit easier and it just kind of stuck! Would be interested to hear the other minor details if you have a minute too mate (by means of PM or on here I don't mind).

Resu that board is almost perfect and I would be more than happy to have that servicing my house.

The big hole in the back of it is very easily resolved with a tube of fire sealant! No big worries there.

The "very very very very" small thing is the incoming tails. They are going into the main Iso at an angle. Tip for you, get your tails in then bend them to what is required. Measure and cut the tails to suit. Take off the double insulation and terminate as it was intended to. Results are you have a perfect termination for the main incoming tails. Cant ask any more than that.

Resu, you should feel very happy with yourself for that C/U, I would. Well done.

Thank's again man, that's definitely something I will be more aware of doing in future! At college the next couple of weeks but will try and remember to take pics more often when I'm back!

All of us, Post up them pictures. Nothing stopping you!

This thread is a great way of showing off your installs and receiving feed back as already shown with Resu.

You will not be slagged down in any way, shape or form, trust me. No need to be shy.

This is your section of the forum and no one else's. You use this as your own personal special club (which it is) and get on with the photo's and learning.
