Discuss Tt systems over 200 ohms in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Any chance you can put some bentonite clay down with the rod? I had a tt system with a rod resistance of 250ohms once, purchased some clay, dug around the rod and re-compacted, ended up with 73ohms. happy days :)

ok western power has rang to day to say no pme
they would not do this as the area is.........rubbish for earth continuity so if they put in pme they would be libal for a non stable earth........
so leave their customers to sort it out themselves knowing lots of them have rubbish earth stakes
which may or may not provide protection.....
some days this job seems nowt but --- covering and no service for your customer
how can you explain to customers that their earth is rubbish..so is all their neighbours and its always been so.
makes it hard to make them see the need to pay for additonal works ie more stakes of some sort which may make no odds ..but at least we tryed!!
sorry but its been one of those days....

did a external earth loop from cu..guess what 0.16ohms!.
re contacted dno...
they came...
they saw....
they connected the pme they told me didnt exist.
joy..jobs a gooden.
